Rat Trapping and Removal

One of our most common Vermin Problems we encounter are Rats. They are everywhere! If you have a food source on your property, you will at some time encounter Rats. Chickens, Pigeons, Horses, Dog Pen, Aviary, Grain Store, Silage, Bails, Canteen and Toilet’s attract Vermin. Rats in particular are notorious for constantly opening their bladder whilst walking around leaving us open to disease.

Disease caused by Rats are Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome, Hemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome, Lassa Fever, Leptospirosis, Lymphocytic Chorio-meningitis (LCM), Omsk Hemorrhagic Fever, Plague, Rat-Bite Fever, Salmonellosis and Tularemia.

We were contacted by a Resident regarding 10 Rats she has seen in and around her Chicken Pen. Chicken food was the main attraction for the Rats as it was readily available on the floor from the Chickens. Rats generally have a litter of around these numbers every month.

Small Children were playing around the Pens and our client had become extremely concerned about her children putting their hands in the Rat Urine. The circumstances and size of the property allowed us to use both Trapping and Air Gun methods to successfully remove 10 Rats in total.

A female rat can mate as many as 500 times with various males during a six-hour period of receptivity—a state she experiences about 15 times per year. Thus a pair of brown rats can produce as many as 2,000 descendants in a year if left to breed unchecked. (A rat matures sexually at age three to four months)
